NAMI Dane County Moves Forward with New Executive Director, Anna Moffit
NAMI Dane County is pleased to announce the appointment of Anna Moffit as its new Executive Director. The Dane County Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness is the founding chapter of what is now the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization, dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.
Anna Moffit has many impressive factors that made her the overwhelming choice for NAMI Dane County’s way forward. In addition to her compelling story of personal history, she has cultivated many connections with key stakeholders from her years of experience on the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) Board of Education and work as a parent advocate with Wisconsin Family Ties. She shared her visionary stance towards coalition building and the need to reduce the disproportionate impact of mobility, trauma, and poverty-related stressors that can contribute to - or exacerbate - mental health challenges. Anna intends to lead NAMI Dane County in building on the strong tradition of advocacy and support for people affected by mental illness, including families whose children experience chronic and severe mental illnesses.
In recent years, NAMI Dane County has been leading Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) and Crisis Intervention Partners (CIP) training for law enforcement in Dane County. NAMI Dane County has launched several new programs focused on increasing awareness and reducing stigma such as like “Raise Your Voice,” and worked to ensure effective and sustained advocacy on a variety of issues important to NAMI’s mission.
On behalf of the Board, we were fortunate to have Lindsay Wallace as the leader of the organization these last four years, and value the structures she has put in place to position NAMI for success. And we are so extremely fortunate and proud to announce Anna Moffit as the next Executive Director!
Anna starts on Monday, May 13th, and we’re very excited to see where the organization will go under her leadership.
